There will be a lot of drink driving around the world today, and no more so than in the USA. In California you are 23% more likely to be involved in a crash with a drink driver on Paddy’s day than any other time of the year. That’s why this year the police are trying a new trick to tackle drink driving – they’re getting drivers drunk on purpose. After having a “controlled amount” of alcohol and then failing the sobriety tests drivers are invited to race around a track and learn just how dangerous it is to drink and drive. The drivers are accompanied by professional driving instructors.
We want to remind motorists that just because it’s a holiday or special occasion, it doesn’t mean drinking and driving is OK
Another amazing service offered to those unfortunate enough to be too inebriated to drive home tonight is a free Tipsy Tow service. You get drunk, get in your car and phone the AAA organisation – as long as it is within five miles they’ll tow you home. There’s really no excuse to not get drunk today.
